# Fitly for coaches: their agent tracks, you coach

*No more chasing food diaries, screenshots or a recap on check-in day. Their agent logs the week as it happens and the coach reads it live, in the same tabs they use for themselves: change the plan, set the targets, ask a private assistant how the client is really doing, then check in with one tap. The admin goes; the hours go back into coaching.*

Vocabulary: on this page the human is the coach and the AI is the agent. Fitly's coach tools connect a coach's account to a client's; the agent does the tracking for the client, and the coach reads the result and makes the calls.

## Switch: their data, in the app, not in a portal

Coaching platforms give you a dashboard about your client. Fitly gives you their Fitly. A bar above the dashboard tabs lists your clients; pick one and every screen you already know (Dashboard, Meals, Workouts, Progress) shows their account, with every number theirs -- filled in by their agent as they lived the week rather than typed up before a session. One more tap ("Back to my own data") returns to your own. The My Clients roster shows who logged today, who has gone quiet, each client's week in one line, and a READ ONLY marker where that is the grant. Nothing to export, transcribe or assemble before a session: it is their account, read live.

## Live: as it happens, not a recap

The client is not filling in a food diary: they text their agent, say it out loud, or photograph the plate, and the agent does the logging, with macros read off the photo. When logging is that cheap it gets done on the bad days too. That is the difference between a week a coach can work with and one that was tidied up before they saw it. And it is in front of the coach as it happens: a weigh-in at 7:02 is on their dashboard at 7:02 and the roster marks them as logged today. Each client's Review lays the week out as plan against actual: calories against their target, protein, the workout and the weigh-in for every day, colour-coded on/over/under/not logged, with the week's average calories, days logged, workouts and weight change in one line beneath. Prev and Next walk the whole roster one client at a time.

## Ask: ask where they're slipping, skip the logs

With a client selected, the chat becomes the coach's private thread with an assistant that has read that client's last two weeks of logs, plans and targets plus today's plan against actual. Starter questions: How are they doing today? How's their week going? Where are they slipping? Suggest a plan tweak. What should I focus on? Any red flags? Any meal, exercise or plan on the client's tabs can also be asked about directly (On plan? Macro read? Better swap? Progression?). It answers about the client in the third person, in numbers, and says so when the data is thin. It is read-only by design (to change anything it points the coach to the client's tabs), it never reads the client's conversations with their own agent, and it is one private thread per client per day that the client cannot see.

## Edit: change the plan from their tabs

With edit access the client's Meals and Workouts tabs are the coach's to work in, using the same plan editors a member uses, on the client's account; on save, the client's agent works from the new plan from that moment. The rule is that a coach writes what they produce and reads what the client reports:

- **With edit access the coach can change:** the meal plan, the workout plan, calorie, macro and water targets, their goal, training days and diet style, and which library plan is active.
- **Always the client's to record (readable at any access level, never writable):** meals and water, weigh-ins and measurements, workouts as they lifted them, daily check-ins, their weekly schedule, their profile (including allergies and injuries), and their journey.

## Check in: they log every day, and they hear back

A client logs every day and, in most coaching apps, hears nothing from the human until check-in day. The coach's daily check-in is one tap from the week they are already reading: pick a reaction (Strong work, Nice consistency, On a roll, Numbers moving, Rest up, Let's tighten up, Just checking in), add a note under 280 characters, or both. It lands in the client's My Coach as a line they can reply to, and the client can ask a question attached to the check-in it is about.

- **It is never automated.** There is no schedule and no auto-send; every check-in is an act by a person who opened that client's week.
- **It is always anchored.** The line underneath ("5 of 7 days logged, 3 workouts, ~2,180 cal/day") is built server-side from the client's week at send time, so a one-tap reaction states what is true rather than what the sender says is true.
- **Changes ride along.** What the coach changed since their last check-in is recorded as it happens rather than asked of the coach, so the client hears "They updated your meal plan and targets" and a plan is never changed quietly.
- **One a day per client, editable after.** Editing rewrites the check-in the client already has instead of sending another, and only a first send notifies, so tidying up your words never buzzes them twice.
- **View-only coaches send them too.** Encouragement is not a data edit; what a check-in needs is a live connection and live Pro.

## Messages: a conversation, not a pager

When a check-in is not enough, either side can write. Messages are threads rather than a rolling chat, and they live on the coach's review of that client, next to the week they are about, rather than in a separate inbox: a coach's unit of work is a client, not a message. The shape is email, deliberately, because an input box sitting open implies presence and turns a coach into a support desk.

- **Either side starts one.** A client writes from My Coach ("Message your coach"); a coach writes from that client's review. A message can be attached to the check-in that prompted it, so the answer is read beside the note it is about.
- **Three open at a time per client**, counting only what the coach still owes; answering one frees a slot. One client cannot fill a coach's morning.
- **No read receipts, in either direction.** Telling a client their coach has seen a question and not answered it is worse than silence.
- **What is owed sits above the check-in** on the coach's review, and on the roster row's second line, so a coach cannot send "Strong work this week" over the top of a question asked two days ago.
- **Done is per person and reversible.** A coach clearing a thread off their review never removes it from the client, and either side can close one with "Done, no reply needed".
- **Either side can delete their own message**, and the reader is told something was removed rather than shown a silent gap.

This is not the coach's assistant, which is a private AI thread about the client that the client never sees, and it is not the daily check-in, which is one tap going one way.

## Privacy: some of it is never yours to see

Never shared with a coach, at any access level, and not a setting either side can change: the client's conversations with their agent and what it remembers about them, their progress photos, and their account and billing. The coach's assistant is built on logs and plans only.

What a client does grant is theirs to set: the consent card is one "Read only" checkbox, left unticked, so editing is the default. Unticked, the coach can build the client's plans and set their targets as they go; ticked, the coach sees everything and changes nothing. Editing is the default because a coach who has to describe a change and wait for the client to make it is not really coaching, and it is still an explicit, disclosed choice. The card the client answers is the card the coach is shown. A client can change access or disconnect at any time; it takes effect immediately and the coach sees that it ended.

## Connected in three taps

1. **Send them a link.** One link covers the whole roster: it never expires, works for every client the coach sends it to, and the page it opens explains Fitly to them. A coach can address a single invite to one email instead, or the client invites the coach first from My Coach. Accepting is always an explicit tap, never a side effect of opening a link or signing up.
2. **See their week as it happens.** The moment they accept, their name is in your selector bar and their week is in your tabs.
3. **Ask, adjust, check in.** Ask the assistant about any client, with edit access change their plan from their own tabs, and send a one-tap check-in that names the week and reports what you changed.

## FAQ

**Do my clients need a subscription?** Yes. Connecting a coach is part of Fitly AI and Fitly AI Pro. Each client pays for their own account, so there are no per-client fees on the coach's and no seat caps.

**What if my clients do not log?** That is the problem their agent exists to solve. Logging is a text, a voice note or a photo of the plate, so there is nothing to open, nothing to search and no portion sizes to guess at. Their agent texts them when a day goes quiet, so the chasing is not the coach's job. If someone goes quiet anyway, their row on the roster says so.

**If clients can message me, am I on call?** No. Messages are composed and sent rather than typed into a live box, each client can have three waiting for a reply at a time (answered ones free a slot), and there are no read receipts in either direction.

**Can the daily check-in be automated?** No. It cannot be scheduled or auto-sent, and the numbers it carries are read off the client's week at the moment of sending, so a check-in is always proof somebody looked. One a day per client, editable afterwards, and a read-only coach can send them too.

**Does the client know when a coach changes their plan?** Yes, and not because the coach remembered to say so. The app records what changed since the last check-in and the next check-in carries it ("They updated your meal plan and targets").

**What happens if the coach cancels Pro?** The client list stays and nobody is disconnected. The selector bar says coaching is paused until Pro is back; nothing is deleted.

**Can a client have more than one coach?** One active coach at a time. If a client connects someone else, the connection with the previous coach ends and that coach sees it ended.

**Can I work from a laptop, or an Android phone?** Yes. The web app at https://app.fitly.chat has the same selector bar, roster, Review and assistant, so any browser works. The native app is iPhone only for now.

**Is there a free trial?** 7 days of Fitly AI Pro, free, no card: sign up on the web at https://app.fitly.chat?mode=signup&code=COACH (the code is filled in) or enter the code COACH when signing up on iPhone. A coach invited by a client gets the same 7 days on accepting.

## Who built it

Fitly is built by Zoe and Brad Pineau in Charlottetown, PEI, who lost 230 lbs between them. Zoe is a certified personal trainer and nutritionist who went on to compete in bodybuilding after losing 150; the coach tools are designed the way she wants to work with a client.
